At Advantage Academy we continue to look for ways where we can increase benefits for our employees while reducing cost at the same time. In addition, we are excited that we can now offer additional supplemental benefits, TRS Health Care Insurance and a 403B annuity plan. The following is a brief description of the benefits offered by Advantage Academy.

We are offering a NEW employer-paid Advantage Plus plan beginning with the 16/17 school year.
Group health insurance coverage is available through TRS Active Care Aetna in accordance with TRS Active Care provisions. Employees can access the TRS website at https://www.trsactivecareaetna.com/
Advantage Academy offers two dental plans to choose from, a DHMO plan and a PPO plan. The DHMO plan provides coverage when you visit a dentist who is in-network with the insurance plan. You pay copay for each covered procedure. The PPO plan allows you to go to any dentist and it pays 100% for preventive procedures, 80% for basic procedures, and 50% for major procedures.
When an employee has vision insurance, that employee pays a premium and the insurance company will cover part or all of the cost for vision care. Coverage may differ between in and out of network eye doctors. Employees will typically pay a portion of their eye care cost through copays.
Accident insurance helps protect you financially in the event of an accident. Medical insurance doesn’t in most cases cover all the expenses that result from an accident/injury. Accident insurance can help fill in coverage gaps as you pay out of pocket medical bills, including deductibles and copays. Accident insurance may be used to cover various expenses associated with an accident such as: fractures, dislocations, burns, concussions, lacerations, eye injuries, torn knee cartilage, and ruptured discs. Medical services and treatment such as ambulance, emergency room care, hospital confinement, and physician follow up visits are also examples of available coverage.
Critical Illness insurance helps supplement your regular medical coverage in the event of a major critical illness such as a stroke or heart attack. Critical Illness insurance is designed to cover out of pocket expenses not covered by your medical plan, such as your deductible and coinsurance. Illness can often lead to extended time away from work, and critical illness benefits can help offset some of those lost wages and help you pay routine living expenses.
Cancer insurance benefits may be used to cover various expenses associated with cancer such as: inpatient hospital stays, chemo and radiation, new or experimental treatment, travel and lodging cost, routine living expenses, rent or mortgage, and out of pocket medical expenses such as your deductible and coinsurance. Cancer insurance helps supplement your regular medical and disability insurance as you incur various medical and related expenses during cancer treatment.
To make sure that an employee’s family is protected, Advantage Academy provides all full time employees with $15,000 of life insurance and accidental death insurance.
Voluntary term life insurance is available to those employees that want more coverage than is provided them by Advantage Academy. Voluntary group term life insurance is an affordable option for those employees seeking additional coverage or who wish to purchase coverage on their spouse and children.
Short term disability can helps a person remain financially stable should they become injured or ill off the job and cannot work for the short term. Short term disability plan benefits begin on the 8th day for injury and 8th day for illness. It will pay 60% to a max of $1,000 per week for up to 12 weeks depending on the injury or sickness.
Long term disability can help you remain financially stable should you become injured or ill off the job and cannot work during a long term. Plan benefits begin on the 91st day and pay 60% of your monthly income up to a max of $5,000 a month.
The Employee Assistance Program is intended to promote well-being and productivity. Our Employee Assistance Program provides professional, confidential counseling for employees and their loved ones. The program provides unlimited phone access to guidance consultants, legal, financial, and work life services. Assistance is also provided for topics such as marital and family problems, child/elder care, relocation, and education. The program provides up to four personal sessions per person, per issue, per year for short term problem resolution.
Participation in the Employee Assistance Program will not excuse employees from complying with normal AA policies or from meeting normal job requirements during or after receiving assistance, nor will participation in the Employee Assistance Program prevent AA from taking disciplinary action against an employee for performance problems that occur before or after the employee's seeking assistance through the program.
AA has established the Education Assistance Program to help eligible employees develop their professional skills. All full-time regular employees who work more than 30 hours a week and have successfully completed twelve (12) months of continued service as a benefited employee are eligible to participate in the program.
Under the program, educational assistance is provided for courses offered by approved institutions of learning, such as accredited colleges and universities. It is at the discretion of AA to determine if the courses are directly or reasonably related to your present job or part of a degree program. Courses must not interfere with job responsibilities or regular work schedule, and must be taken on employee’s own time.
Reimbursements cover actual costs of tuition, testing and applicable fees only. Certification fees are not eligible for reimbursement under this program. An extended service contract agreement is required to receive this benefit. For more details please contact the company’s HR Department.
