Advantage Academy

Heart & Home Ministries

Heart & Home Ministries is a nonprofit corporation* which began a mentoring program called “Partnering Pals” in the Spring of 2010 at Advantage Academy’s North  Duncanville Campus. Led by Founder/Director, Sonja Zielke Partnering Pals continues to thrive, and in 2011, a chapter was started at AA’s Waxahachie campus.

Students are referred to the program by teachers, and permission must be obtained from the parent or guardian for the student to be assigned a mentor. Mentors and their student meet on a weekly or bi-weekly basis at the child’s campus during lunch period or are scheduled with the campus secretary. Parents are encouraged to work with the assigned mentor to help the student wherever there is a need.

Mentoring events are held at different times throughout the school year, such as Christmas and at the end-of-the-year. Events involve food, prizes, games, fun and more and are provided to help establish a relationship between the home, mentor, and the student. As of 2015, over 55 Advantage Academy students have received some degree of mentoring from Partnering Pals (read some of the success stories).

For continued growth and success of the program, “Partnering Pals” is always in need of caring adults both male and female. If you would like to be a student mentor or know someone who would or simply need more information about us or the program, please contact Sonja Zielke at 214.276.5867.

Heart and Home Ministries and its mentors also volunteer assistance to other ministries, such as World Vision.
