Advantage Academy

History

History

Founded as a tuition-free public charter school in 1998, Advantage Academy is operated by Eagle Advantage Schools, Inc. a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization. Advantage Academy began in 1998 with 60 students and now currently has over 1,800 students enrolled at four campuses. Our campuses are located in Waxahachie, South Dallas (our North Duncanville location) and two campuses in Grand Prairie, Texas.  Our teachers are highly qualified or state certified in their subject areas.

Although we are considered a public school, as a charter school we have the freedom to be more innovative in our instruction and educational techniques. Charter schools are accountable for improved student achievement. In addition, as an open enrollment public charter school there are no tuition fees. We are state accredited; offer career and technology training; online high school courses; dual credit with local colleges; fine arts; sports, clubs, with an emphasis on character and student leadership development.

Our founder, Dr. Allen Beck, incorporated the following seven pillars or principles that we as an educational institute live by and strive to instill in our students.

“The Seven Pillars of a Champion”
  • Integrity
  • Humility
  • Authority
  • Stability
  • Community
  • Prosperity
  • Victory
The seven stars above the eagle head of our brand represent the Seven Pillars.

By teaching and cultivating these values in our students, including the importance of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, Advantage Academy reinforces its belief in the need to maintain a strong sense of the early American spirit. The American spirit established by the founding fathers and built upon by other American heroes and historical figures, provided a vision for America and its citizens which exemplified character, morals, and ethics. This framework allows the school to ensure that all students are receiving an education of TRUTH, where America’s history and early American values remain in place in the hearts and lives of today’s youth.

Abraham Lincoln represents the qualities that helped to establish our great nation and we believe that he is the ultimate role model for our school. Our employees and students are encouraged to emulate his leadership qualities, moral character and determination, as well as a strong work ethic and hope in the future. All of his qualities reinforce our Seven Pillars and when followed complete our motto: “Building Champions with a Future and a Hope.

“The philosophy of the schoolroom in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next."              Abraham Lincoln
