District Leadership
Superintendent: Mr. David Williams, M.A.
Mr. David Williams was elected as Advantage Academy’s 3rd superintendent in 2024. About his new role, Mr. Williams says,
“I believe public education is the best profession out there. As a lifelong educator, I taught geography and creative writing at Duncanville High School, served in the central office as an instructional coordinator, and then worked with a team of talented educators to found Village Tech Schools where I have served as CEO/Superintendent since its inception in 2012.
Education should happen for and with students, not just to them. We work together as a school community to provide learning environments where students can learn who they are, learn things that last, and learn they belong. My desire is to see students collaborate to design creative solutions, make and present work of depth and quality, and build confidence to take action to make life better for others. I am excited to join forces and expand educational environments where students walk away saying, I am capable; I am loved.
A few things to know about me: I'm a proud graduate of Duncanville High School. I have a Bachelor's in History and Master's in Teaching, both from the University of Arkansas (Woo Pig). My son is a freshman at the U of A and my daughter is a junior at Village Tech Schools. I've been married to my high school sweetheart for 21 years. I love the outdoors. Ben and Jerry's be a problem for me. America might run on Dunkin, but I run on a single decaf Americano. Is there anything better than an al pastor torta? Maybe a burger from Shake Shack? Or the sour cream chicken enchiladas from Gloria's? These things are too close to call.”
