Superintendent Video & Letter RE: 2020-2021 School Year Options

Although we are waiting on more guidance from the Texas Education Agency on required health guidelines, we are proactively putting measures in place for personal hygiene, staff and student training, social distancing, and personal protection equipment. We are doing everything we can to mitigate as many health concerns as possible.

As we plan, we believe this is not a one-size-fits-all decision. Based on your responses to the previous survey, Advantage Academy is offering multiple options to ensure that parents have the freedom to make the right choices for their children and their families. Learning options for the 2020/2021 school year will include: (1) fully on-campus 100% of the time, (2) remote learning, where students learn from home using online tools 100% of the time, and (3) a hybrid model of instruction, where students attend some days on campus and some days off campus. Advantage Academy is officially offering all three options, and it will be your choice!

As we continue to plan for our August 19 start date, it is important for us to know more specifically your expectation for the upcoming school year. With this in mind, a new form will be sent out asking each parent to select your preferences for instruction and to hear more about your needs. While the last survey was focused on gathering a general consensus of the possible instruction options, this form will be a part of your enrollment records and asks specifically for which options you choose for each child enrolled.

Additionally, all students PK through 12th grade will be loaned a personal device for the school year, such as an ipad, chromebook, or other to assist with continuing education, even in the case of a school closure. These will be provided at no cost to parents.  We know that a strong academic year is important for our students. We are committed to ensuring students are caught up on instruction they may have missed due to closures at the end of the 2019/2020 school year. Our multidisciplinary team is continuing to put many plans in place to help close any educational gaps that have occurred.

Lastly, we know that the decisions in the coming months will be difficult for parents, and we want our parents to know that we are here to provide as much guidance as possible. We will be providing Parent University online for training for parents to learn the best ways to help their children succeed academically, emotionally and socially during these difficult times. For further assistance, our offices are now open Monday-Friday from 8:30 am- 4:00 pm. Please wear a face covering when visiting the offices. Advantage Academy PK-12 Families,
As stated in the email and video sent to you this week, below is the short form we need submitted by you for each of your AA students. Please submit the form(s) no later than Wednesday, July 11, 2020. This will give the district enough time to plan master class schedules, class space and other important details. This is your opportunity to choose the type of instructional format your child will receive this upcoming school year due to COVID-19. (at home, at school or a hybrid...which is a combination of both)
Submit the English OR Spanish mobile friendly form below for each of your Advantage Academy students by end of the day 7/11/20. Please select the "Submit" button at the bottom of the form after you complete it.
