Advantage Academy TEA rating announced

Advantage Academy School District has received the highest rating as a “MET STANDARD” school district for the 2013-2014 school year, in a report released by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).

The rating marks the second consecutive year in which Advantage Academy has received a “Met Standard” rating by the TEA.

The rating means that Advantage Academy students meet the state standards for Student Achievement, Student Progress, Closing Performance Gaps and Postsecondary Readiness. Advantage Academy also received RECOGNIZED in local program ratings.

Advantage Academy becomes one of the first charter schools in Texas to access Permanent School Fund guarantee

Eagle Advantage Schools, Inc., a 501©3 non-profit organization which operates Advantage Academy and its three public charter school sites, has become one of the first in Texas to access the Permanent School Fund (PSF) guarantee. Advantage Academy currently has over 1,700 students enrolled in grades pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.

The Permanent School Fund operated by the Texas Education Agency guarantees bond issues to Texas public schools, allowing districts to borrow at a substantially lower interest rate. The PSF guarantee was previously reserved for traditional public schools only.

Teach for America recognition to three AAGP teachers

Teach for America recently recognized three Advantage Academy-Grand Prairie TFA teachers at their end of the year Summit.

AAGP high school teachers, Ms. Faircloth, Ms. Rogers and Ms. E. Burns received the award for "Team". TFA awarded 5 core value awards this year, including Diversity, Team, Transformational Change, Leadership & Respect and Humility.

These TFA teachers have all left their family and friends from across the country to be a part of AA.
