Allen Beck, PhD., was born in Oklahoma, raised in poverty, the son of migrant farmers and attended school in a one-room school house. His mother and several of his teachers saw the potential in the struggling young man and continued to encourage his learning. This encouragement instilled in him the value and importance of an education provided in a caring environment.  Dr. Beck graduated Valedictorian of his Senior class in Oklahoma City.

Dr. Beck has extensive experience as a teacher and administrator in public and private education. He was an essential part in pioneering one of the leading Bible College institutes in the state of Texas. In addition to his own studies and experience as an educator, he was also a pastor of churches in Texas and Oklahoma and did missions work for over 10 years. Dr. Beck has traveled to more than 30 countries and has learned to relate and interact with a diverse variety of cultures.

After teaching in public schools and seeing the outstanding needs of the students, Dr. Beck pledged himself to finding a new and better way to educate that would dedicate itself to providing students with a purpose and a hope for their future. Dr. Beck’s dream became a reality when he applied for a “public charter school” contract in 1997. After receiving approval through the State of Texas, Dr. Beck opened Eagle Advantage Schools, Inc., in Dallas, Texas, August 1998 with just 60 students.

Eagle Advantage Schools, Inc., is a non-profit organization which now operates four campuses as Advantage Academy with over 1,700 students, a central office administration building and accompanying Resource Center based in Duncanville, Texas. Advantage Academy now employs over 220 faculty and staff who are dedicated to the vision and mission of Eagle Advantage Schools, Inc. Dr. Beck retired from Advantage Academy in 2013.
