Ms. Kerri King
To all of the scholars at Advantage Academy and their families, hello and welcome to my little corner on the website! My name is Kerri King and it’ll be my pleasure and honor to teach Science here at the Grand Prairie East campus of Advantage Academy. This will be my second year teaching at Advantage Academy and I am very excited to teach the next generation of champions and leaders who will continue to light the way into a brighter future. I am a native Texan and I was ‘bit’ by the teaching bug after having amazing individuals as teachers and role models all throughout my years of being a student from elementary all the way up to college.
I believe in teaching in a way where I am able to use each scholar’s unique passions, interests and hobbies to aid in their learning process. I am a firm believer that we are forever scholars of life, as we should strive to better ourselves one day at a time. As a teacher, I strive not only to promote growth in a scholar’s life academically but socially as well. My goal is to do everything in my power to make sure each and every scholar is successful, has a safe and loving environment, and continues to have that passion, thirst for knowledge and the character of a champion.
I am a very positive and passionate person and I love to share that positivity and energy with others. I strive to continually develop myself personally and professionally, as while I may teach others… I also learn from them. I get an amazing sense of achievement from seeing those I have helped develop and grow to be successful. If I can have a positive impact on the future of my scholars, then I feel like I am successful as a teacher, mentor, and supporter. With that said, it is no wonder that my favorite pillar of character and leadership at Advantage Academy is Humility.
I love nature, animals and figuring out the mysteries of the world. Other than teaching, I have a passion for baking and cooking, as you can explore the world with your tastebuds and share these experiences with others. I am also an avid reader and I love to play games of any kind (board games, card games, video games, etc.). As a teacher, I believe that my strengths are my empathy, creativity, enthusiasm that I will bring with me to share with others on a daily basis, and organization skills.
