Mrs. Tena M Walkinshaw
In 1989, My husband and I went to Quebec Canada to learn French. In 1990, pregnant with our first child we went to Mali West Africa. We returned to the States for the last time in 2007. While we lived in the villages I homeschooled our children. Then, when we moved to the capital of Mali our children went to a missionary school and I taught 1st and 2nd grade. The last year, in Mali I taught in the American International School of Bamako. When we returned to the states I started subbing in the public schools around my house. I was encouraged to study for and take the Special Education test. I did take the test and passed it. At the same time I was being prepared to take my own classroom. ECAP (Texas Teacher Certification Program for Teachers.) helped me to received my Certification 2010. I worked in Special Education until 2019. I taught at the Dallas French International School for a year and then in a Charter School. I’m excited about teaching 4th and 5th grade ELAR/SS. My goal is to get my students prepared for the STARR test in Spring.
