Founder - Dr. Allen Beck, Ph.D
Allen Beck, the son of migrant farmers, was born in Oklahoma and raised in poverty. Beck attended school in a one-room school house. Throughout his formative years, his mother and several teachers saw the potential in the struggling young man and continued to encourage his learning. This encouragement instilled in him the value and importance of education provided in a caring environment. Dr. Beck graduated as Valedictorian of his Senior class in Oklahoma City.
Dr. Beck has extensive experience as a teacher and administrator in public and private education. He was an essential part in pioneering one of the leading Bible College institutes in the state of Texas, Christ for the Nations International. In addition to his own studies and experience as an educator, he also pastored churches in Texas and Oklahoma and did missions work for over 10 years. Dr. Beck has traveled to more than 30 countries and has learned to relate and interact with a diverse range of cultures.
After teaching in public schools and recognizing the outstanding needs of the students, Dr. Beck pledged to find a new way to educate, dedicated to providing students with a purpose and a hope for their future. Dr. Beck’s dream became a reality when he applied for a “public charter school” contract in 1997. After receiving approval through the State of Texas, Dr. Beck opened Eagle Advantage Schools, Inc., in August 1998 with just 60 students.
Eagle Advantage Schools, Inc., is a non-profit organization which now operates four campuses - Advantage Academy - with over 1,200 students, a central office administration building, and accompanying Resource Center based in Duncanville, Texas. Advantage Academy now employs over 220 faculty and staff who are dedicated to the vision and mission of Eagle Advantage Schools, Inc. Dr. Beck retired from Advantage Academy in 2013.
